The Russian Gnessin Music Academy ( Russian Российская академия музыки имени Гнесиных ; historically Gnessin Institute ) is one of two music academies in Moscow, next to the Conservatory .

The Gnessin sisters

The school was founded on February 15, 1895 by Jelena Gnessina and her two sisters Yevgenia and Maria, who graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with great success.

In the following decades it was rebuilt and expanded several times. Today it is considered an elite music school.
