Alexei Sergejewitsch Volodin ( Russian Алексей Сергеевич Володин , scientific transliteration Aleksej Wolodin , born July 17, 1977 in Leningrad ) is a Russian pianist .

Life

At the age of ten, Alexei Volodin was accepted into the Gnessin Institute in Moscow , where he first received lessons from Irinia Tschaklina and later from Tatiana Selikman. At the age of 17 he continued his studies with Elisso Wirsaladze at the Moscow Conservatory . In 2001/02 he rounded off his studies at the International Piano Foundation Theo Lieven in Como .

He has won several awards in international competitions, including 1st prize at the 9th Concours Géza Anda in Zurich in 2003 .

Volodin has performed in recitals in Russia, Spain, France, Italy, Australia, Switzerland and Germany. He has recorded two CDs, one of which is a live recording of his debut recital in Munich's Herkulessaal with works by Ludwig van Beethoven (Opus 111), Sergei Rachmaninow (Moments musicaux Op. 16) and Sergei Prokofiev (Sonata No. 7). Another three CDs have been released on the Challenge Classics label since 2013 with solo works by Schumann, Ravel, Scriabin and Rachmaninov. His Chopin CD won a "Choc de Classica" and was awarded five stars by the French magazine "Diapason".
