The Orchester National du Capitole de Toulouse is a French orchestra based in Toulouse .

history

1736 and 1818 are considered the founding dates of the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse , in which the orchestra was initially part of the ensemble. Originally called the Orchester du Capitole de Toulouse, the ensemble has had music directors such as André Cluytens and Georges Prêtre throughout its recent history .

Michel Plasson's tenure from 1968 to 2003 is considered the most important phase of the orchestra.

In 2005 Tugan Sokhiev became guest conductor, later his music director.
