Life

Alexander Rosenblatt comes from a musical family in Moscow. Between 1975 and 1982 he studied piano with Gilels' student Pavel Messner and composition with Karen Chatschaturjan at the Moscow Conservatory . As a student he was already occupied with jazz and wrote his musicological thesis on American piano jazz (with Jiovanni Mikchailov). From 1983 to 1990 he taught at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow, after which he worked as a freelance pianist and composer in Moscow. Rosenblatt gave concerts as a soloist and also in a piano duo with Oleg Sinkin or Nikolai Tokarew and also played jazz .

Rosenblatt has published several compositions for solo instruments and symphony orchestras (violin, horn, piano, oboe, cello), a sextet for wind instruments and piano, and a cantata for mixed choir and wind quintet. Furthermore, numerous piano works, including three piano sonatas, the ballet music Alice in Wonderland for symphony orchestra, various variations on themes by Chopin, Paganini, Bizet for piano, songs and choral compositions, as well as Jaroslav Mudrij ( Yaroslav the Wise ) for symphony orchestra, mixed choir, boys' choir and soloists . His compositions move stylistically between serious and light music and also touch the crossover to jazz.

The pianist Nikolai Tokarew, to whom Rosenblatt dedicated various pieces, ensures the performance and dissemination of his oeuvre during his tours in Western Europe.
