Alexander Dmitrijewitsch Malofejew , also Alexander Malofeev ( Russian Александр Дмитриевич Малофеев , born October 21, 2001 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist .

Live and act

Malofejew received piano lessons from the age of five. He was a student at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow with Elena Beryozkina and received a scholarship a. a. the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation. His mentors were Valery Giergijev and Denis Matzuev . Since 2019 he has been studying with Sergei Dorensky at the Moscow Conservatory .

Malofejew won numerous prizes in international competitions. Among other things, he won the Grand Prix and the special prize for the best interpretation of works by Johann Sebastian Bach at the International Rachmaninoff Young Pianists Competition in Novgorod in 2014 . In Moscow in 2014 he won first prize and the gold medal at the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and in 2016 the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition “Grand Piano Competition”. In 2015 he was a prizewinner at the International Vladimir Krainev Young Pianists Competition ; at the International Piano Festival in Brescia and Bergamo ( Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo ) he received the award for “Best Young Musician 2017”. At the China International Music Competition he took second place in 2019. In the same year Alexander Malofejew played Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor op. 16 with the Tatar National Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Sladkovsky in the congress center in Nantes as part of the 25th edition of the Folle Journée .

Malofejew has already given concerts in Europe, China, Japan, Australia and the USA a. a. in the Bolshoi Theater , in the Mariinsky Theater , in the Kremlin , in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , in the Teatro alla Scala , in the Philharmonie de Paris . at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and in the Herkulessaal in Munich , at international music festivals and at UNESCO . He worked with major orchestras and conductors such as Valeri Gergijev , Riccardo Chailly , Myung-whun Chung , Kristjan Järvi , Wladimir Spiwakov , Wladimir Fedosejew , Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Kazuki Yamada .

His first DVD was released in 2016.
