La Folle Journée
La Folle Journée ( French for "The Great Day" ) is a major classical music festival that has been held annually in Nantes since 1995 at the end of January / beginning of February . It is considered the largest of its kind in France. The name of the festival was taken from Beaumarchais ' play La Folle Journée ou le Mariage de Figaro , the model for Mozart's opera Figaro's Wedding .
La Folle Journée initially lasted one day, but now the concert program extends over five days. The founder and organizer is René Martin, whose aim was to bring classical music to a wide audience. In 2007, more than 250 concerts were held at various venues and were attended by more than 100,000 people.

- In 2008, La Folle Journée had the motto Schubert ... dans tous ses états . For the first time, the TV broadcaster arte broadcast the festival live for one day.
