Yuri Alexandrovich Rosum

Yuri Alexandrowitsch Rosum ( Russian Юрий Александрович Розум , also Yuri Rozum ; born February 22, 1954 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist.

Yuri Rosum studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory , where he was considered one of the most talented students. In 1975 he was selected to take part in the Concours Musical Reine Elisabeth for piano in Brussels. However, for religious and political reasons, the Soviet authorities did not allow him to leave the country. Years later, Juri Rosum had the opportunity to prove his skills abroad. He quickly gained international recognition. Among other things, he won first prize at the Barcelona Piano Competition in 1980 and second prize at the Montreal International Music Competition in 1984. In 2001 he received the title of People's Artist of Russia . Since 2009 he has been teaching at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow.
