Elle is an international women's magazine , the German edition of which is published monthly by Hubert Burda Media . The sold circulation is 87,798 copies, a decrease of 56.6 percent since 1998.
Elle appears worldwide with 43 issues in more than 90 countries, including France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, the USA, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, China, South Korea and India.
history
Elle was founded in France in 1945. The name of the magazine is derived from the French feminine pronoun elle 'she'. In the 1960s her slogan was: Si elle lit elle lit Elle ("When she reads, she reads Elle"). In 1981, Daniel Filipacchi and Jean-Luc Lagardère bought the magazine publisher Hachette , which also included Elle , which was then deeply in crisis. Elle was then first in the United States a relaunch subjected, followed by the other countries.
The magazine has been published in Germany since October 1988, and Elle Decoration, Elle Wedding, Elle Traveler and Elle City are also published. The subject of the first issue was Gloria von Thurn und Taxis , who gave readers a glimpse into her wardrobe. She was considered a " femme fatale " who liked to experiment with fashion and attracted attention with unusual clothing and eye-catching presentations.
In the UK edition, the first man featured on the cover in July 2012 was soccer player David Beckham , photographed by Doug Inglish .
Today Elle is one of the world's largest fashion magazines. There are 27 Elle websites worldwide , with a total of over a million visitors and 26 million page views per month.
Elle is part of the France-based Groupe Lagardère . It appears in the USA with Hearst Corporation , in Canada with TC Transcontinental , in Brazil with Editora Abril , in Mexico with Grupo Editorial Expansión , in Argentina with Grupo Clarín , in Singapore with Mediacorp , in Serbia with Adria Media, in Turkey at Doğan Burda Magazine, in Germany at Hubert Burda Media, in Romania at Ringier . The first UK edition was released in November 1985.
