Erich Neureuther

Erich Neureuther (born May 1, 1932 in Munich ) is a German film director , actor , screenwriter and radio play speaker . Occasionally he also worked under the pseudonyms Max Bruch or Paul Neureuther .

Life

In the 1950s he worked as an actor in various theaters and acted as a speaker for radio plays for Bavarian Radio . Since 1964 he has been working primarily as a television director of television series and more lavish productions, although he can look back on a particularly long career in this area that lasted until 2007, even though he took a longer creative break between 1981 and 1990.

He directed various episodes of Der Nachtkurier reports ... , Das Kriminalmuseum , Die Fifth Kolonne , John Ralling - adventures around diamonds and diamond detective Dick Donald with Götz George , at the crime scene , private detective Frank Kross , Zwickelbach & Co. and A Case for Two . In contrast to some other television directors, he stood out somewhat with at least two interviews on the working methods of television series in a direct comparison of the 1960s and 1990s. He complained about the increased time pressure and the reduced production budget, but generally praised the cooperation with the respective production staff. He also explained the high number of his directorial work: “The preparation time cannot be precisely determined. At some point you get a book that you work through, then there are one or more book reviews long before production until the book has been approved by the station's editorial team. Then it comes down to the cast suggested by the director and which the broadcaster has to agree to. Of course there are also suggestions from the production department, which are often very useful, but not mandatory. (...) Finally, about four weeks before the shoot, the search for a motif and the creation of the shooting schedule begins. In a series episode, you can set about 10 days during which you can still do other activities. With the book and cast you can still shoot another film, but then you are only occupied with the new film a fortnight before shooting ”. He commented on the required shooting days as follows: “With the increasing financial hardship, 15 days of shooting have turned into 13 days. That is still excellent. At my first crime scenes I had 29-30 days of shooting, today it's 21. "
