Die Komödie im Bayerischer Hof is a large private theater in the Munich Hotel Bayerischer Hof . In the 570-seat auditorium are comedies , musical comedies , musicals and revues performed.

history

The cultural events in the hotel began in 1886, but came to an abrupt end when Munich was destroyed in 1944. After the reconstruction, the grandmother of the current hotel owner, a celebrated singer, had a concert hall built. Her son Falk Volkhardt commissioned the architect Erwin Schleich with the design of today's theater, which opened in 1961 under the direction of Gerhard Metzner with the comedy Das Glas Wasser by Eugène Scribe . The hotel is run as a family business by Innegrit Volkhardt .

The theater is since 1992 by the theater companies Margit Bönisch GmbH operated whose managing director Margit Bönisch was. August Everding is said to have spoken out in favor of Bönisch as theater director. Since her sudden death on January 27, 2016, the theater has been run by her partner and successor Thomas Pekny .

Stars such as Hans-Jürgen Bäumler , Arno Bergler , Pascal Breuer , Joachim Fuchsberger , Uschi Glas , Michael Hinz , Heide Keller , Marion Kracht , Anita Kupsch , Heiner Lauterbach , Michaela May , Horst Naumann , Dietrich Siegl performed in the elegantly renovated theater , Susanne Uhlen , Barbara Wussow , Albert Fortell , Alexander Wussow , Wolfgang Spier , Christiane Hörbiger and Heidelinde Weis . In addition to musical works, children's pieces are also offered (e.g. in the run-up to Christmas).

The hall also serves as a venue for company parties, conferences and anniversaries.
