from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Falk Volkhardt (born April 25, 1925 in Munich ; † March 4, 2001 in Starnberg ) was the owner and operator of the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich, the “Zur Tenne” hotel in Kitzbühel and the Volkhardt brothers' wine cellar.

Life

Falk Volkhardt was Hermann Volkhardt's grandson and son of his son of the same name. Falk Volkhardt was probably one of the greatest personalities in the German hotel industry, along with Lorenz Adlon .

In 1959 Volkhardt took over the management of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Within two years he rebuilt the hotel into the largest building on Promenadeplatz . In 1969 he bought the adjacent Palais Montgelas and had it renovated. Despite a financial bottleneck, he bought the “Zur Tenne” hotel in Kitzbühel in the same year , thus fulfilling a dream. The hotel was completely renovated in 1995.

In 1994 he handed over the Bayerischer Hof to his youngest daughter Innegrit , who had already joined the management in 1992. Falk Volkhardt died on March 4, 2001 after a long illness. He left a wife and two daughters and two grandchildren.
