Thomas Pekny

Thomas Pekny (* before 1975 in Linz ) is an Austrian set designer and professor for experimental design , fashion and stage costumes at Pforzheim University .

Life

Pekny, son of actors Romuald Pekny and Eva Petrus-Pekny , attended the Rudolf Steiner School in Munich and then a technical school for carpenters and wood sculptors . He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . There he specialized in production design under Rudolf Heinrich .

After graduating, he worked as a set designer: 1975/1980 at the Deutsches Theater, Göttingen and 1981/1983 at the Städtische Bühne, Augsburg . From 1983 he worked as a set designer in the Heilbronn Theater . When, on June 29, 2001, the theater got a third venue in addition to the already existing Großer Haus and the Kammerspiele , he designed a historicizing interior for the Komödienhaus (also box theater ). In 2012 he finished his work as a set designer at the Heilbronn Theater.

Since 1996 he has been a professor at Pforzheim University for experimental design, fashion and stage costumes. Pekny is managing director of Theaterbetriebe Margit Bönisch GmbH , which has been running the comedy in the Bayerischer Hof Munich since 1992 , Margit Bönisch , who died in 2016, was his partner.
