Master of the Ansbach wine press picture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The painter who painted the panel of Christ in the wine press in the Swan Knights Chapel of the former St. Gumbertus monastery church in Ansbach around 1510 is known as the master of the Ansbach wine press .

The artist, who is not known by name, painted the picture in oil on wood on the theme of the Eucharist in a typical Catholic depiction of Christ being pressed in the wine press, but instead of blood flowing in his picture, hosts fall into a chalice . The master worked in Nuremberg, possibly in Albrecht Dürer's workshop . A few more pictures are assigned to the master, such as a picture of the Holy Family in the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg .
