Whatever Happens is a German drama film directed by Niels Laupert in which Fahri Yardım and the Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks played the leading roles. The film was released on November 30, 2017.

action

The photographer Julian and the lawyer Hannah meet one last time to hand over the apartment after the end of a long-lasting relationship. Ironically, on New Year's Eve, the two of them are now stuck in their apartment together. So they review their relationship again. It all started when the two moved into a shared flat together seven years ago . After they go on reminiscing, the evening takes a surprising turn.

The film is the first production by Jumpseat Filmproduktion, which was founded in 2013 by Niels Laupert and Benjamin Grosch. The production took place in cooperation with the producers Benedikt Böllhoff and Max Frauenknecht from the Viafilm production company.

The film was shot almost completely in the Bavaria Studios in Geiselgasteig . Additional scenes were filmed in Frankfurt am Main , where the last mouth fell in March 2016.

The film premiered on June 25, 2017 at the Munich Film Festival .

criticism

The film received mixed reviews from critics. Markus Fiedler gave film starts 3.5 / 5 stars and said in his conclusion: " Whatever Happens is an excellently played love drama with many soft tones that precisely captures the wear and tear of everyday life, but also the special features of a normal romance."

Awards

The film was nominated at the Munich Film Festival for the New German Cinema Award in the categories of direction, production and screenplay, but it did not win any of the categories.
