Ignaz Dinné

Ignaz Dinné (born May 9, 1971 in Bremen ) is a German jazz musician ( alto saxophone , composition) who plays his instrument extremely "black".

Dinné - his father is the jazz musician Ed Kröger , his mother Lolo Dinné was a co-founder of the Lila Eule jazz club - initially occupied himself with the trombone before switching to the saxophone at the age of seventeen. He also competed in bicycle races. In 1992 he became a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra , where he stood out as a soloist until he left in 1994; he also played with Herb Pomeroy and in the Bobby Burgess big band Explosion . After a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in 1994, he stayed in the United States and formed his own quartet, with which he toured continuously and performed with Wynton Marsalis , Bobby Watson and Slide Hampton . From 1995 to 1997 he studied at the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in Boston ; In 1996 he went on a concert tour through India and Thailand with the ensemble of the institute with guest soloists Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter . In 1998 he moved to New York City and worked with musicians like Clark Terry and Jimmy Heath .

In 2004 he moved to Berlin , but continued to work with his New York band and European bands. In the same year he presented the first album under his own name. In addition, he continues to work in his father's quintet, for whom he also composes. He has also recorded with Jonathan Robinson, Lars Duppler ( Alliance Urbaine ) and the Greg Burk Quartet.
