The Cécile Verny Quartet is a jazz band from Freiburg im Breisgau that received prizes at the internationally important jazz festival in Juan-les-Pins .

The front woman and namesake of the quartet is the singer Cécile Verny, who was born in the Ivory Coast and grew up in France . She is accompanied by Bernd Heitzler on bass, Andreas Erchinger on piano / synthesizer and Lars Binder on drums ( Torsten Krill until 2009 ). The quartet began in Strasbourg in 1987 .

African roots, French singing tradition and jazz singing are important sources for the rhythmically stimulating mix of chanson, scat singing, blues and swing , which are performed in French and English. For the CD European Songbook , the quartet employed renowned arrangers such as B. Michael Gibbs or Carinne Bonnefoy .
