The Jazz-Schmiede is a venue for jazz concerts in Düsseldorf . It is located in southern downtown district Bilk , close to the Hospital of the Heinrich-Heine University .

The Jazz-Schmiede building is part of the listed Salzmannbau ensemble , a former industrial site from the Wilhelminian era, and functioned as a forge at that time . As part of a renovation in 1994, it was converted into a small concert hall with sanitary, changing and storage rooms, which can accommodate a maximum of 200 visitors. The operating concept includes seating, some with tables, and a bar in the hall itself for catering.

In order to enable the jazz forge , the Jazz in Düsseldorf e. V. founded. He accompanied the conversion of the building into a concert hall and has been responsible for event operations since 1995, which mainly consists of concerts, but also includes additional uses such as theater performances. In its statutes, the association names the "revitalization of the Düsseldorf jazz scene" as the goal.
