Reinhold Schneider Prize
The Reinhold Schneider Prize is the city of Freiburg im Breisgau's culture prize and has been awarded every two years since 1960, alternating in the areas of literature , music and the visual arts . In addition to the main prize, which is endowed with 15,000 euros, an honorary gift or a scholarship , endowed with 6,000 euros, is awarded. In 2018, the municipal council decided that the prize should be awarded every two years from 2020 in five categories. There are also the performing arts as well as photography , film and new media. The prize money has been doubled because it is to be awarded in two categories at the same time. A jury made up of local councilors and public figures will decide on the award of the prize, chaired by the mayor . An important criterion is the loyalty of the award winner and / or his work to Freiburg. The award thus ties in with its namesake, the writer Reinhold Schneider (1903–1959), whose work and life were closely linked to Freiburg.
