Dietrich von Bausznern

Dietrich von Bausznern (born March 19, 1928 in Rastenburg ( East Prussia ), † January 20, 1980 in Kirchzarten ) was a German composer , cantor , organist and music teacher.

Life

The grandson of the composer Waldemar von Baußnern studied at the music college in Freiburg im Breisgau with the composer Harald Genzmer and became a permanent employee of the school radio department of the Südwestfunk during his studies.

In Friborg he was cantor of the Ludwigskirche and lecturer at the pedagogical college there . From 1952 to 1980 he lived in Kirchzarten , where he organized the "Kirchzarten Concerts" and gave the later orchestra conductor Hortense von Gelmini her first piano lessons. He later became a teacher at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and in 1979 went to the Frankfurt Music Academy as a professor of music theory and composition .

Works

Bausznern created over 300 compositions of the most varied genres, but mainly church music : sacred concerts , cantatas , motets , choral music , chamber music as well as a youth and a radio opera .

In his home town of Kirchzarten he was also a cantor and organist, head of the “Jugendbildungswerk Musik” and organizer of the “Kirchzarten Concerts”.

Bausznern encouraged the establishment of the " Baußnern Association for the Promotion of the Musical Creation of Waldemar von Baußnern " in 1981 , from which the " Baußnern Society " in Darmstadt emerged.

Honors

For his services, namely as a innovator of Protestant church music , as a composer and organizer, he received several high awards, such as the Reinhold Schneider Prize of the city of Freiburg (sponsorship prize) in 1966 and the Johann Wenzel Stamitz Prize in 1973. He was also Member of the GEMA supervisory board .
