Maria Wimmer
Maria Wimmer (later name: Maria Seemüller ) (born January 27, 1911 in Dresden , † January 4, 1996 in Bühlerhöhe ) was a German actress .
Life
The daughter of a building supervisor attended the drama school in Leipzig and was engaged at the city theater in Szczecin in 1932 . From 1934 to 1937 Wimmer played at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt , from 1937 at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus , from 1947 to 1949 at the Residenztheater and from 1949 to 1957 at the Kammerspiele in Munich . She then made guest appearances at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , the Volksbühne Berlin , the Münchner Kammerspiele , the Schauspielhaus Zurich , the Vienna Burgtheater as well as the Schiller Theater and the Renaissance Theater in Berlin.
She mainly worked with the directors Fritz Kortner , Oscar Fritz Schuh , Karl-Heinz Stroux , Gustav Rudolf Sellner , Hanskarl Zeiser and Rudolf Noelte . Wimmer shone in classic roles such as "Gretchen", "Maria Stuart", "Medea", "Lady Macbeth" and especially in 1956 as " Iphigenie " in Goethe's Iphigenie on Tauris at the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen .
After World War II, she also turned to roles in plays by modern and contemporary authors of the post-war era, such as Samuel Beckett , Arthur Miller , T. S. Eliot, and Peter Hacks . She was also seen in the leading roles of plays from modern classics such as Gerhart Hauptmann , Anton Chekhov , August Strindberg and Eugene O'Neill .
In the 1980s and 1990s she appeared again more often at the Münchner Kammerspiele, where she a. a. also participated in the world premiere of Nur wir by Ulla Berkéwicz . Memorable roles of this time included the impersonation of Gertrude Stein in the play Gertrude Stein Gertrude Stein Gertrude Stein by Marty Martin in 1984 and in 1996 the role of "Volumnia" in Coriolanus (Shakespeare) at the Salzburg Festival . Wimmer also worked in some film and television productions. In 1971 she played in the series Der Kommissar - (Episode 42: A Mysterious Murder) and in 1980 in the series Derrick - (Episode 67: Insatiable Hunger).
Maria Wimmer married Otto Seemüller , a lawyer with a doctorate, in 1950 . Since the marriage remained childless, she decreed that a large part of her estate should go to a foundation. This is based in Munich and promotes art, culture and financially supports actors in need.
Maria Wimmer lived temporarily in Mezzegra on Lake Como . There, a plaque donated by the municipality of Mezzegra in front of her former home commemorates the actress. Her grave is on the Bogenhausen cemetery in Munich (grave no. 1-7-1).
