Mezzegra is a former on the western shore of Lake Como, located community with 1,037 residents (December 31, 2013) in the Italian province of Como , which is now the municipality Tremezzina belongs

Community merger

From 1928 to 1947 she belonged together with Lenno and Tremezzo to the municipality of Tremezzina . 4242 inhabitants lived in the community (as of 1936). In 1947 it was dissolved and the three founding communities regained their independence.

Mezzegra is now part of the new municipality of Tremezzina , which was formed on February 4, 2014 by the merger of the municipalities of Lenno , Mezzegra, Tremezzo and Ossuccio . A referendum was held in the four towns on December 1, 2013, in which 63% of voters voted in favor of the union. In November 2013 there were 5124 inhabitants.

In the Giulino district of Mezzegra, Benito Mussolini and his lover Clara Petacci were shot by communist partisans on April 28, 1945 .
