Community merger

Tremezzina was a municipality in the Italian province of Como . It was created in 1928 from the merger of the three municipalities Lenno , Mezzegra and Tremezzo . It was named after the Tremezzina landscape, a region in the west of Lake Como .

At that time there were 4242 inhabitants in the community (as of 1936). After the end of the Second World War it was dissolved in 1947 and the three founding communities became independent again.

On February 4, 2014, the municipality of Tremezzina was re-established through a merger of the municipalities of Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo and Ossuccio. In these four municipalities, a non-binding referendum took place on December 1, 2013 , in which 63% of the electorate voted for the municipalities to merge. Previously, the aforementioned municipalities were organized together with the neighboring municipality of Griante in the Unione die Comuni della Tremezzina. The latter, however, did not become part of the newly founded community.

The community belongs to the Comunità Montana del Lario Intelvese and was re-established in 2014 after having existed under this name between 1928 and 1947.
