Longone al Segrino is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1937 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Como in Lombardy .

geography

The municipality is located about 12.5 kilometers east-northeast of Como on the west bank of Lake Segrino and includes the Morchiuso fraction . Neighboring municipalities are: Canzo, Erba, Eupilio, Proserpio.

history

When the proconsul Caio Metello moved along here in 222 , nothing is known about a settlement, but the Celts settled in this area many years before the Romans. The area was repeatedly devastated by foreign troops over the years.
