Both of us is a song of the American rapper B.oB . The song was recorded together with the also American singer Taylor Swift . It was first published on May 22, 2012, followed by publication in Germany on July 13, 2012. Both of Us is the third single from BoB's album Strange Clouds . The single was released under the labels Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records , written by Ammar Malik, BoB, Lukasz Gottwald , Cirkut and Taylor Swift and produced by Lukasz Gottwald and Cirkut. A music video was posted on YouTube on June 27, 2012 .

After Swift visited BoB's label HQ in Atlanta and BoB was not in Atlanta at the time, it was Q-Tip who arranged Swift's meeting with BoB. The song was then recorded in two locations: Swift recorded it in Los Angeles while BoB did it in Atlanta. BoB said it felt "magical" the first time he heard the track in full. After that, however, he rewrote one of his verses. After the production he said: "It started as a blueprint and it really continued to grow into something tremendous" ( German : "It started with a design and it really developed into something huge ").
In 2014 the Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike played a mashup of their instrumental piece Whisper together with Tiësto and the acapella of the chorus of the song Both of Us on several of their live performances . This version was recorded and ended up on the internet. The track has already been clicked several million times on YouTube. In addition, a music video of the song was published, which shows Swift's parts in the video of the original and live performances by Tiësto and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. However, after the song gained high population, it was officially announced that there would be no release.

The single has so far been in the charts in Australia , Canada , New Zealand and the United States . In Australia the song reached number 46, but had to leave the charts after a week. In New Zealand, the title stayed in the charts for four weeks, reaching number 24. In Canada it was number 23 and in the US it was number 18.
criticism
The single received mostly positive reviews. It was said that the single would convey a lot of positive messages. Stephanie Bruzzese from Common Sense Media said: “[…] BoB delivers his meaningful rhymes with what feels like special conviction, and Swift's light, lovely vocals sound especially uplifting.
