Red (English for red is) the fourth studio album of American country-pop - singer and songwriter Taylor Swift . It was released as a download on October 22, 2012, as an audio CD on October 26, 2012, and on vinyl in November 2012 . In the first two weeks, the album sold over 1.5 million copies in the United States. Swift worked with new producers and guest musicians such as Gary Lightbody and Ed Sheeran on the album and featured it on the Red Tour .

Singles

The first single from the album, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together , was a worldwide success and legally downloaded over 620,000 times in the first week. The second single Begin Again was released on September 25, 2012 and the third single, I Knew You Were Trouble , with which she released a song for the first time that can be assigned to dubstep , was available as a promo single from October 9, 2012 Sale. The track was also downloaded over 400,000 times in the first week, making Swift the first female artist to hit that mark with two singles. The third single was I Knew You Were Trouble and was released on November 14, 2012. In Great Britain and the USA it reached number two in the singles charts, in Germany the top 10. Fourth single is 22 , released on March 12, 2013. In Great Britain this single could reach number nine in the singles charts.

Overall, the album received positive reviews. In the overall rating of Metacritic , based on 21 reviews, the album received 76 out of 100 points. Entertainment Weekly's Melissa Maerz gave the album a B + rating. Allmusic and The Guardian also rated the album positively with five and four out of five stars, respectively. Kai Butterweck from laut.de gave the album one of the worse ratings with three out of five possible stars.

Christoph Volkmer from Countrymusicnews.de said the following about the album:

Commercial win

The album, with top positions in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Great Britain and the United States, is Swift's most successful to date. Red was able to reach number two on the charts in Belgium (Flanders) and Norway. Third place was also achieved in Austria, Denmark, Italy and Japan, while Mexico and Spain placed fourth. In the German Top 100 it rose to number five. It was also ranked 17th in the Netherlands, 25th in Belgium (Wallonia), 49th in Finland, eighth in Portugal and Sweden and ninth in Switzerland.
