Domàso is a municipality with 1482 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Como in the Lombardy region .
geography
Domaso is located at the confluence of the Livo with the Lago di Como and borders the municipalities of Colico ( province of Lecco ), Gravedona , Livo , Peglio , Vercana and Dongo .
history
Domaso was probably founded by the Romans. There were often arguments with the neighboring town of Gravedona . Among other things, because Gravedona was not on the side of Como or because the town wanted to be independent from the parish of San Vincenzo .
Tourism and leisure
Domaso has one of the longest beaches on the lake and is very popular with windsurfers , among others . A frequently blowing wind (Breva) creates ideal conditions for this sport.
Domaso is divided in two by the Livo River. One part consists of a medieval village center with relics of the old monastery and a small harbor. The other, newer part offers a modern infrastructure adapted to tourist needs, with campsites and the like. a.
