Former railroad

In the past there was a railway line between Menaggio and Porlezza . The service opened in 1884 and suspended in 1939 because of the outbreak of World War II . In 1946 a project was created to electrify the small railroad; it was approved in 1949 but the renovations were never carried out as the railroad was no longer in service. It was finally abandoned entirely in 1966.
