Bulgarograsso is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4081 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Como . It is located around 10 kilometers southwest of Como and around 35 kilometers northwest of Milan .

The place name comes from a smaller Roman fort . The diminutive of Burgus is Bulgarus . The suffix grasso signals the fertility of the area. The A9 motorway from Chiasso to Lainate is not through the municipal area, but a little further away .
