Turate is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9541 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Como in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 19 kilometers south-southwest of Como and about 24 kilometers northwest of Milan . Turate borders directly on the province of Varese .
