Paray-Vieille-Poste is a French municipality with 7457 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France .
geography
Paray-Vieille-Poste is located in the north of the Essonne department and belongs to the greater Paris area . The neighboring municipalities are Rungis , Orly , Villeneuve-le-Roi , Athis-Mons , Savigny-sur-Orge , Morangis and Wissous . The city is on the old Paris- Fontainebleau road . Paris-Orly Airport is to the north of the city .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1195 as the property of the abbeys of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Sainte-Geneviève.
In the 17th century there was a post office here , as the city was on the way from Paris to Fontainebleau. In 1859 the Auberge de la Vieille-Poste became a farm. The parish of Paray was founded in 1793, it was not until 1923 that it was given the nickname vielle-poste ( old post ).
