Longpont-sur-Orge is a French municipality with 6338 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Palaiseau and the canton of Brétigny-sur-Orge . The city is on the Orge River .
