Ferdinand-Jean Darier
Ferdinand-Jean Darier (born April 26, 1856 in Budapest , † June 4, 1938 in Longpont-sur-Orge , Département Seine-et-Oise ) was a French dermatologist .
Life
Darier comes from a Huguenot family who emigrated from France in the 17th century. Before he was born, his parents moved to Budapest when he was eight years old, to Geneva . As a child, Darier was fluent in French, German and Hungarian. At fifteen he began in Geneva , a medical school , but moved in 1878 to Paris . After his doctorate in 1885, he went to the laboratory of Louis-Antoine Ranvier . From 1909 to 1922 he was head of the medical department at the Hôpital Saint-Louis .

Darier belonged to Ernest Henri Besnier (1831–1909), to whom he had assisted before his doctorate, Louis-Anne-Jean Brocq (1856–1928), Raymond Sabouraud (1864–1938), and Jean Alfred Fournier to the "Big 5" the Paris School. He was one of the pioneers of radiation therapy , chemotherapy , histopathology and vaccinations .
