Wissous [ visˈu ] is a French commune with 7,470 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Essonne department (in the Île-de-France region ).
geography
The municipality of Wissous is 14 kilometers south of Paris and borders the Hauts-de-Seine (to the west) and Val-de-Marne (to the north) departments. The inhabitants call themselves Wissoussiens .
The neighboring communities are Fresnes in the north, Rungis in the northeast, Paray-Vieille-Poste in the east, Morangis in the south and southeast, Chilly-Mazarin in the southwest, Massy in the west and Antony in the northwest. Part of the Paris-Orly airport is in the municipal area.
