Linas is a French commune with 6,785 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region .
geography
Linas is about 30 kilometers south of Paris at the intersection of two important traffic routes. The RN20, which connects Paris with Orléans , runs from north to south . The A104 autoroute , known as Francilienne , runs in an east-west direction and is the third motorway ring in the greater Paris area.
Not far away was the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry race track .

In 2006 Linas had 6,249 inhabitants on an area of 7.51 km². The community's population has grown rapidly over the past 50 years. After a disproportionate, almost exponential growth between the 1960s and the 1980s, the population growth slowed significantly, only to pick up again at the beginning of the 21st century.
