Champlan is a French commune with 2,761 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement Palaiseau and the Canton Longjumeau (until 2015: Canton Villebon-sur-Yvette ). The inhabitants are called Champlanais .
geography
Champlan is located about 18 kilometers southwest of Paris in the Hurepoix countryside on the Yvette River . Champlan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Massy in the north, Chilly-Mazarin in the northeast, Longjumeau in the east and southeast, Saulx-les-Chartreux in the south, Villebon-sur-Yvette in the southwest and Palaiseau in the west.
The Autoroute A10 (or the interconnection Autoroute A126 ) as well as the Route nationale 188 and the Route nationale 20 run through the municipality .
