Epinay-sur-Orge is a French municipality with 11,270 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Palaiseau and the canton Longjumeau .
geography
Épinay-sur-Orge is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Longjumeau in the north and north-west, Savigny-sur-Orge in the north-east and east, Villemoisson-sur-Orge in the south-east, Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois in the south, and Villiers-sur-Orge in the Southwest and Ballainvilliers to the west. The Yvette and the Orge flow through the municipality .
history
The finds of numerous silices indicate an early settlement of the area. The Abbey of Saint-Germain kept the village as a property in their books from the 12th century. The Chapel of Saint Roch of Montpellier was built in 1458.
