Root Jesse Window (Épinay-sur-Orge)
The Root Jesse Window in the Catholic parish church of St-Leu-St-Gilles in Épinay-sur-Orge , a French commune in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region , was created in the 16th century. In 1911, the stained glass window was classified as a Monument historique .

The three meter high window in the north chapel comes from an unknown workshop. The root of Jesse is a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is shown in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse , the father of King David . Jesse is shown asleep and the following branches of the tree appear to David and another eleven kings of Israel . The conclusion is the representation of Mary with child.
