Root Jesse Window in Moulins (Ille-et-Vilaine)

The Wurzel-Jesse window in the Catholic parish church of St-Martin in Moulins , a French parish in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region , was created around 1575. The leaded glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1907 as Monument historique .

The three-part window in the north transept was created in Michel Bayonne's studio in Rennes , who made many stained glass windows in the region. It shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is shown in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse , the father of King David . Jesse is shown asleep and the following branches of the tree appear to David and another eleven kings of Israel . The conclusion is the representation of Mary with the baby Jesus.

In addition to the Wurzel-Jesse window, the Passion window in the church from the Renaissance period has been preserved.
