Root Jesse window in Férel

The Wurzel-Jesse window in the Catholic Church of Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Garant in Férel , a French parish in the Morbihan department in Brittany , was created in the first half of the 16th century. The stained glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1932 as Monument historique .

The Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Garant church was built in 1890 on the site of a previous building from which the Wurzel-Jesse window originates.

The window in the choir of today's church was made by an unknown workshop. It shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is shown in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse (at the bottom). The upper end is the Madonna and Child. The coats of arms of the founders, François and Claude de Rieux, can be seen to the left and right of Maria .
