Root Jesse window in Néry

The Wurzel-Jesse window in the Catholic parish church of St-Martin in Néry , a parish in the Oise department of the French region of Hauts-de-France , was created in the mid-16th century. The stained glass window in the Renaissance style was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France in 1975 as Monument historique .

Window No. 2 in the choir , which has only survived as a fragment, comes from an unknown workshop.

The root of Jesse is a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is shown in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse , the father of King David . Jesse is shown asleep and the following branches of the tree appear to David and another eleven kings of Israel . The conclusion is the representation of Mary with child.
