Root Jesse Window (Bordeaux, St-Michel)
The Root Jesse Window in the Catholic Church of St-Michel in Bordeaux , a French city in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created around 1517. The stained glass window was included in the list of architectural monuments in France in 1846 as part of the church as Monument historique .
The window was created by an unknown workshop. In the tracery it shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is represented in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse .
In addition to the Wurzel-Jesse window , other windows from the Renaissance period have been preserved in the church.
