Window of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Le Faouët

The Transfiguration window in the Ste-Barbe Catholic chapel in Le Faouët , a French commune in the Morbihan department in the Brittany region , was created between 1510 and 1515. The leaded glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1862 as Monument historique .

The window depicting the Transfiguration of the Lord was made by an unknown workshop. It was donated by Louis de Boutteville (shown in the bottom center of the window, next to it is Saint Fiacrius with a shovel ) and his wife Jeanne du Chastel (shown at the very bottom right, next to Saint Mary Magdalene ). The Madonna and Child stands on a snake at the bottom left of the donor.

At the top left you can see Moses with the tablets of the law and to the right of Jesus the prophet Elijah . Below are the apostles Peter (left), John (middle) and James (right). During the restorations in 1912 and 1956, parts of the window were added.

The five alliance coats of arms of the donor family, all of which were almost completely renewed during restoration, can be seen in the tracery .

In addition to the window of the Transfiguration of the Lord , there are three more windows from the Renaissance period in the Ste-Barbe chapel and five more in the St-Fiacre chapel (see navigation bar).
