Janvry is a French municipality with 636 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France . Janvry belongs to the Arrondissement Palaiseau and the canton Dourdan (until 2015: canton Limours ). The inhabitants are called Janvryssois .
geography
Janvry is located around 27 kilometers southwest of Paris in the Hurepoix landscape . The municipality is part of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park . Janvry is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Gometz-la-Châtel in the north, Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard in the north and northeast, Marcoussis in the east, Fontenay-lès-Briis in the south and southeast, Briis-sous-Forges in the south and west as well Gometz-la-Ville in the north-west. The A10 car route runs through the municipality .
history
In Janvry there was a command of the Order of St. John in the 13th century, which later passed to the Order of Malta.
