County of Porhoët
The county of Porhoët (at times also vice-county of Porhoët) with the capital La Trinité-Porhoët in the Morbihan department in central Brittany existed in the 11th to 16th centuries. At first it was a title that was given to members of the ducal family ( House Rennes ), later to a vice-county in the hands of the Rohan with its center at Josselin Castle .
After the vice counts died out in the middle of the 13th century, Duke Peter Mauclerc gave Porhoet as a county to his daughter Yolande († 1272). Half a century later, the land was owned by the Count of Alençon for three generations . At the beginning of the 15th century, Olivier V. de Clisson held the county, which he passed on to the Rohan again through his daughter. After the death of the last Rohan of this line in 1527, the title was no longer used.
