Odo from Porhoet

Odo II of Porhoët ( Eudon II. De Porhoët , also called Éon and Eudes , † after 1173) was Count of Porhoët and regent of the Duchy of Brittany . He was the son of Geoffroy, Vicomte de Porhoët and Hadvise, and thus a member of the (later so called) House of Rohan .

After the death of his older brother Josselin, he inherited this in Porhoët.

As the second husband of Bertha, daughter and heir to Duke Conan III. of Bretagne († 1148), who had disinherited his son Hoel because of illegitimacy, Odo received from him the guardianship of his stepson Conan IV. , the son of Bertha's marriage to Alain le Noir († 1146).

From 1148 onwards, Odo ruled Brittany, but did not think about giving it back to his stepson. In 1154, Conan IV therefore allied himself with his uncle Hoel against Odo, but he managed to defeat the two pretenders. Hoel was able to secure the property of the county of Nantes , Conan, however, had to flee to England to King Henry II , who confirmed his possession of the Honor of Richmond as his paternal inheritance. In addition, Conan received military support that allowed him to return to Brittany; he found several allies, but the fact that he appeared as a vassal of the English king also provoked an uprising of other greats led by Odo von Porhoëts, who was defeated and now had to leave Brittany in turn. Conan was proclaimed duke in 1156. In the same year expelled Nantaiser his uncle Hoël and confided to Count Gottfried von Anjou but to, a brother of King Henry II.
