traffic
The municipality is located on the road from Lugano to Menaggio ( Lake Como ). The part along Lake Lugano has been partially expanded in recent years by tunnels. The planned tunnel between the Swiss border and Porlezza (7 km of the Statale Regina 340) should have opened in February 2011. The opening of the tunnel, which has been under construction for 25 years, was initially postponed until September 2011. The tunnel was opened to traffic in early October 2012. There are also boat connections across Lake Lugano to Lugano and the towns along the lake.
Between 1884 and 1939 the Menaggio-Porlezza railway ran between Menaggio on Lake Como and the town.
