Olgiate Comasco municipality in the province of Como

Olgiate Comasco is a north-western Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,810 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Como in Lombardy .

geography

The municipality is located about 9.5 kilometers west-southwest of Como and about 10.5 kilometers east-southeast of Varese and includes the fractions: Baragiola , Boscone , Cantalupo , Casletto , Gerbo , Rongio , Somaino . Since 1998 the municipality has had the title città (city).

traffic

The municipality is located on the state road 342 from Montano Lucino to Varese . The station on the Como – Varese line no longer exists. This part of the route was closed and dismantled in 1966.

Olgiate Comasco maintains partnerships with the French municipality of Liancourt in the Oise department and with the Hungarian Pesterzsébet , the 20th district of Budapest, as well as an intra-Italian partnership with the municipality of San Cataldo in the Caltanissetta Free Municipal Consortium (Sicily) since 2009 .
