Rodero ( Rödur in dialect of Como ) is a northern Italian municipality (comune) with 1308 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Como in Lombardy .
Rodero borders the Italian municipalities of Cantello , Bizzarone , Cagno and Valmorea and the municipality of Stabio , in Switzerland . The municipality is located about 40 kilometers north-northeast of Como and borders directly on the province of Varese and the Swiss canton of Ticino . The municipal boundaries are formed by the rivers Rio Ranza and Rio dei Gioghi .
Physical geography
The municipality of Rodero rises to 394 m above sea level. M .: in the foothills of Lombardy and is located in the Como area on the border with the province of Varese and a few kilometers from Italy and Switzerland. This community therefore belongs to the so-called Regio Insubrica . Rodero is located in the hills of the foothills of the Alps. Rodero has two districts: Casello Ferroviario and Confine.

Etymology of the name
The name Rodero has an uncertain etymology to this day. This name could come from the German name Rodo or Rodulo or from the pre-Romanic name rodanos, from which the name of the river Rodano comes.
