history

Blevio includes seven ancient villages. The so-called "the seventh cities" (Capovico, Cazzanore, Girola, Maggianico, Mezzovico, Sopravilla and Sorto) . The most important of these were near Lake Como.

The etymology of the city's name was found in the Celtic language: Blevio → “Biuelius” (Latin “vivo - alive”; old Irish “biu - I use to be”) .
