Cerano d'Intelvi is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 545 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in Lombardy in the province of Como .
geography
The municipality is located about 14.5 kilometers north of Como in the Val d'Intelvi and on the border with Switzerland . Cerano d'Intelvi is part of the Comunità Montana Lario Intelvese . Cerano is located in the center of the lower Valle d'Intelvi, on the right side of the Telo (river), this branch flows into Lake Como to Argegno . Is about 700 meters above sea level. M. on the slopes of Monte San Zeno, which stands out from the part to the north for its conical shape in the middle of the valley with the oratory of San Zeno at the summit (consecrated in 1215 and recently restored). Neighboring communities are Breggia (CH-TI), Casasco d'Intelvi , Castiglione d'Intelvi , Schignano , Dizzasco and San Fedele Intelvi .
history
In the first three decades of the 12th century, the village was involved in the fighting between Como and Milan. Then it became a fiefdom of the Camozzi and came under the rule of the Rusconi from Como in 1416. Later, like the entire Val d'Intelvi, it was occupied by Gian Giacomo de 'Medici. In 1583 it became a fiefdom of the Marliani.
The village still has medieval portals, such as the Cometti house, which has a Romanesque vestibule. It is part of the Comunità Montana Lario Intelvese.
